Happy March, Buck’s Rock Community!

As cold days continue here on the East Coast, we find ourselves looking forward to Summer 2026 even more. We can’t wait to enjoy long evenings at bonfires, see performances by incredible campers, and watch projects come to life in visual arts shops. We hope you are just as excited as we are! Read on for some fun updates and announcements

March 2026

It’s snow season!

Camp is currently blanketed in a cozy comforter of snow. Since November, New Milford has seen 62 inches of snowfall - about 35 more inches than we got last year! Enjoy some photos of your favorite spots on camp sleeping away the winter months, just waiting for campers and staff to come wake them up.

Meet one of our 2026 Visiting Artists!

WHOOP DEE DOO (WDD) is an artist-led project that reimagines public access tv through contemporary art. WDD creates installations and live performances internationally at universities, festivals, arts organizations, museums, schools, public parks, and more. Created in the likeness of a public access television show filmed with a live “studio” audience, each project engages the immediate communities of the organization with which we partner, and we work closely with participants to research, conceive, and create our programming. Our process emphasizes extensive collaboration and seeks to initiate a cross-generational dialogue.

  • WDD will be coming to camp this summer to run a workshop at Buck’s Rock with all of you!

  • If you’re interested in learning more about their work before the summer, you are invited to participate in one of their projects this month!

    • When: Saturday, March 21st, 2pm ET

    • Where: Compere Collective, 351 Van Brunt St, Brooklyn, NY

    • What: Come collaborate with WDD's incredible team to brainstorm ideas, create props, costumes, and/or performance ideas that will be included in their large-scale installation and live show happening in Red Hook, Brooklyn at Pioneer Works on April 12th! Learn from their team how their shows get created through collaborations with all types of artists and performers. This open studio will teach you something new and exciting that you can see come to life at the show on April 12th!

And finally…some jokes from Scott!

Did you hear about the mummy that was found completely encased in milk chocolate and bits of hazelnut? They're calling him "Pharaoh Rocher".

How does a chicken pick its nose? With chicken fingers.

I asked my father, “Why wasn’t I named after you?” To which he replied, “Because, son, After You is a stupid name.”

My mother asked if I had seen the dog bowl. I replied, “Huh. I didn’t know the dog could do that.”
